PAYPER CAMPAIGN DISCLOSURE POLICY

Effective Date: April 1st, 2025

Overview

This policy outlines the disclosure requirements for all participants in Payper campaigns. Transparency is essential for maintaining trust with audiences and complying with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations. All Creators participating in Payper campaigns must adhere to these guidelines.

Disclosure Requirements

When Disclosure Is Required

Creators must disclose their relationship with Brands when:

  • Receiving compensation through any Payper campaign type
  • Receiving free products, services, or other benefits
  • Creating content that expresses personal opinions about a Brand or product
  • Appearing personally in promotional content
  • Adding personal endorsements to Brand content

The FTC requires disclosure of any "material connection" between Creators and Brands that might affect how audiences perceive recommendations.

Clear and Conspicuous Disclosure

All disclosures must be:

  • Easily noticeable by the average viewer
  • Placed at the beginning of content
  • Visible without requiring additional clicks or actions
  • In clear, simple language that audiences understand
  • Present in all formats (video, audio, text)

Campaign-Specific Guidelines

1. Retainer Campaigns

For ongoing Brand partnerships where Creators deliver specific content:

  • Include disclosure in each piece of content created
  • Clearly state the sponsored relationship at the beginning of each post
  • For multi-post campaigns, each individual post requires proper disclosure

2. Payper View Campaigns

For content where payment is based on view metrics:

  • Disclose the paid relationship whenever personal opinions are expressed
  • Ensure disclosure is visible before viewers engage with the content
  • Include both verbal and written disclosure in video content

3. Challenge Campaigns

For competitive campaigns with prize distributions:

  • Disclose participation in the challenge when submitting content
  • Clearly state that Apple is not a sponsor of the challenge
  • Include proper disclosure in all submission content

Platform-Specific Implementation

Video Content (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube)

  • Verbally disclose the partnership within the first 10 seconds
  • Include text overlay with disclosure language
  • Add disclosure to the caption/description

Static Posts (Instagram, X/Twitter)

  • Place disclosure at the beginning of the caption
  • Use platform-specific tools (like Instagram's "Paid Partnership" feature) when available
  • Ensure disclosure is not buried among hashtags

Live Streams

  • Disclose the partnership at the beginning of the stream
  • Repeat the disclosure periodically throughout longer streams
  • Include visual disclosure when possible

Acceptable Disclosure Language

The following terms are considered acceptable by the FTC:

  • "#Ad" or "Advertisement"
  • "Sponsored by [Brand Name]"
  • "Paid partnership with [Brand Name]"
  • "[Brand Name] Partner"

Avoid vague terms like:

  • "#sp" or "#spon"
  • "Collab" or "Collaboration"
  • Simply tagging the Brand without disclosure

Responsibility and Compliance

While Payper provides these guidelines, each Creator is individually responsible for ensuring their content complies with FTC regulations. Failure to properly disclose may result in:

  • Rejection of campaign submissions
  • Withholding of payment
  • Removal from future campaign opportunities
  • Potential FTC enforcement actions

By participating in Payper campaigns, Creators acknowledge their understanding of and agreement to comply with these disclosure requirements. These guidelines are designed to align with current FTC regulations and may be updated as regulations evolve.
